To be honest, I haven't been impressed with the movies Matt Damon has been in for quite awhile, but this movie put him right back at the top for me. I loved it. Yes, the movie was about grief over losing a wife and mother, but I felt it didn't drown the movie by any means. For those, like me, who have experienced tremendous loss, we can identify with how this family wants to move forward, and that it takes baby steps.
I found this story very believable with just the right amount of sweet comedy - made me laugh out loud a couple of times. If the little girl upstaged Matt Damon (taken from a few reviews), it's because kids usually do! I, too, appreciated that this didn't become a romantic story, which would've taken away from the love for the zoo and the animals. Scarlett Johannson and all the supporting actors were great!
